No. The GLint chip is a GL accelerator which is intended for high speed
low quality rendering. Think of it in similar terms to the graphics engines
in an SGI box. They are fast for interactive animation preview, but not
suitable for final rendered output. Final rendering is done in software on
the host cpu. Want the GLint chip and similar products will provide is a
much better environment for interactively laying out the animation before
final rendering. I happen to know the 3DLabs people (makers of the GLint
chip) very well, and they have been asking me about LightWave and how their
new product could work with it. Not surprisingly, two of the 3DLabs guys
were at the Deskstation press event for the Raptor2. The Raptor2 would be
an excellent canidate for such a product yielding fast previews with the
GLint, and fast final rendering with the R4600. OKI has already put together
such a product for the Raptor2 and they were at the press event as well. My
buddy from OKI was unsuccessfully hunting for Allen throughout the show.
